<p>Earlier today I posted this picture to Instagram.  It is 4,700 glass pearls.  Yes, you read that correctly, 4,700!  I have been buying up pearls like crazy from Jo-Ann&#8217;s for the last 6 months or so.  These are all for my next <a href="/new-costume/">renaissance costume</a>.  This is an idea that I have been working on for over a year now.  Knowing I was doing this Adoption Dress Project this year, I didn&#8217;t want to start this new costume for this years ren fair.  I am going to take my time with this one.  I just do not want to rush the construction.  There is going to be so much hand beading with all the pearls that I want the quality to be top notch.  I am hoping to get started on this sometime in December.  I have a few things I want to work on for everyday wear first and then there are Christmas presents to make, so I think mid-December sounds good.   Plus I still need to get more of the large pearls.  I will be using those to make  my girdle belt, so I am going to need quite a few.  To say I am excited about this costume is an understatement.  This should be spec-freaking-tacular when it is completed.</p>

<p>I would have written this post earlier had I not allowed myself to be so easily distracted by <a href="http://pinterest.com/sarah121haras/">Pinterest</a>.  Pinterest is good for that.</p>
<p>What exactly have I been distracted by, you ask.</p>
<p><a href="http://pinterest.com/sarah121haras/elizabeths-closet/">Renaissance costumes</a>, of course.  I have just about everything I need to make my costume for next year and I want to get started now!  That is a first.  I am just so excited about it.  It will have, by far, the most detail of all of my previous costumes.</p>
<p>Here are some of my favorite inspirations. Because I am so late in posting I am not linking each picture back to the original post, but you can find them by going through my <a href="http://pinterest.com/sarah121haras/elizabeths-closet/">Pinterest board</a>.<br />
<img alt="cross pattern pearls on the trim of the bodice is very opulent and very period, so love it" src="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/44/19/87/4419879239b72d8165f664aabf26521a.jpg" width="265" height="400" />    <img alt="Detail shoulder - Reproduction of a 17th Century bodice, part of a Spanish saya that belonged to Isabel de Bourbon. Silk jacquard, metallic ribbon, metal plates, pearls. Made by Angela Mombers." src="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/31/51/d0/3151d05d898d52e8c8911fea215eb0a6.jpg" width="300" height="400" /></p>
<p><img alt="“Royal Gambit” (opening Thursday), a metaphysical portrait of Henry VIII with his six wives advancing from Tudor to modern times. - Ann Boleyn's dress is intricately designed to fit the character's personality." src="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/3f/0e/c3/3f0ec39b27babf8bef05c70aaff532dc.jpg" width="266" height="400" />  <img alt="Backside of Elizabethan gown, silk and velvet, embroidered with pearls, galon and gold roses. <p><img alt="Dress worn by a former &quot;Queen Elisabeth.&quot; Found in the &quot;Museum of Faire-a-panalia&quot;" src="http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/56/c3/50/56c350220709567750650333584ca7b1.jpg" width="266" height="400" />  <img alt="yellow and grey renaissance dress/gown | Flickr - Photo Sharing!" src="http://media-cache-ec0.pinimg.com/736x/14/af/d0/14afd0f92850ba92d683935482984eb1.jpg" width="212" height="400" /></p>
<p>In case you couldn&#8217;t tell by these, I plan on dripping pearls.  I have been stocking up on the $1 strands of glass pearls from Jo-Ann&#8217;s for the last 6 months.  So far I have over 1,000 and I intend on using all of them.</p>
