Oh my gosh!  I have 25 days left!  I can hardly believe it has almost been a full year already.  Crazy!  I feel like it it going to be a little weird not wearing this dress.  I guess we will see, but for now I need donations and some great themes that will stretch my creativity.  Holy mackerel! Where did the day go?  I have spent a lot of it decorating our house for Christmas.  I did take some generous breaks though.  I have quite a few more things that I want to do though.  I probably won’t get to them until next week because they require me to get a few more decorations and after my glorious Black Friday shopping I need to hold off on spending for a bit.  I have a few things I want to make as well.

 But for now here is a sneak peak at what I have done.  I wrapped twinkle lights around the banister polls that divide our dining room from the hallway.  It looks so much more magical than this picture lets on.  I told Eric my goal for this year is to make it look like Holiday cheer came and blew up in our house and I think I am well on my way.

Today’s me made item is my red top.  This is a TNT pattern that I have made 3 times now.  I really need to get rid of this shirt because it has 3 different holes in it and you cannot even see the silver design on it any longer.  I am having a hard time going through with it though because it is the first thing I made myself after graduating college and more importantly after I really learned how to sew.

Today’s me made item is my New Look top.  Not super exciting but it is me made none the less.   Man, was it hot today!  I got in my car after work and the thermostat said 91 degrees.  I am not one for really hot or really cold weather.  If I could live somewhere that the temperature stayed at 75 degrees all year round I would do it in a heartbeat!  Too bad that is not going to happen as I would have to move to the mountainous area of California and that is not really my thing either.  So, crazy Indiana weather wins this round and I just have to suck it up.

Today’s outfit includes a self made crinkle chiffon top.  It was made several years ago, like shortly after I started blogging.  Too bad you cannot really see it well here.  The lighting in my dining room has been terrible  the last few days.  I guess I will have to start using my handy new tripod, courtesy of Leila, to take some outdoor shots!!  Yay!!

I have another sponsor day coming up soon!  I have been hard at work on this one for a few weeks now!  It is should be pretty cool, but will definitely be a one time wear only.  I don’t want to give too much away but it is very much a wearable art sort of look.

It is time for another round of Funky Pants Friday to celebrate Me Made May!  Today’s me made funky pants are from my TNT legging pattern.  I used 1 yard of sparkle illusion fabric in mustard yellow from the stash.  Unfortunately, it is a rainy day here and there was not good enough light to capture them in all their sparkly glory. I opted to make this pair a capri length as opposed to full, to the ankle length.  These were super fun to wear today, I even got compliments from the nurse at my doctors office who was impressed that I had made them.  The only downside to these is that everywhere I went I left a trail of yellow glitter.  It took me less than an hour to make them last night and when I got done I realized I needed something to wear over top of them.  So I reached into my stash, both fabric and pattern, and made this skirt.  I used 1 1/2 yards of white crinkle gauze and the pattern B5330.  I have previously made this pattern before, but not this version.  Last time I made it was for my butterfly maxi skirt and I wrote a not so happy review of the pattern.  I still stand by that review but I was in a time crunch last night and didn’t want to play around with this too much.  So the pattern won out and I have a simple basic skirt as a result.

 This morning I almost forgot about Me Made May again!!  I am not a morning person and getting up at 5:30 am is rough!  Luckily, I did remember at the last minute and wore one of my most favorite self made pieces, my military inspired jacket.  This is one of my favorites because of the details.  I don’t know that I need to make any more versions of this style but there are other versions from the pattern that I want to try.

 If you follow me on Instagram or Twitter you probably saw me post a picture of the three cards above.  These amazingly detailed cards were handmade by a co-worker of mine, just so that I could give them away to all of you, my wonderful readers!  She wanted to help us with our adoption fundraising because I had been talking about last months sewing machine necklace giveaway and how fun that was!

  Are they not simply divine?  She is so talented that she even made the glue on the envelope!  I am super impressed with that.

 Each card measures 6″ X 6″ and is blank on the inside, allowing you to write your own personal message.  I know that we Sewcialists love to participate in swaps and these would be the perfect greeting card to send out with your parcels!  Or you could send them by themselves, although they may require extra postage due to their size.

What is even better than giving away one set of three cards?  Giving away two sets!!  She was generous enough to make me two sets that I have am now offering up to you amazing sewists!

First, I want to take a moment to say that I am thinking about all those in Boston right now.  Hoping that everyone finds some comfort in helping a stranger or being helped. The silver lining of any tragedy is always seeing how everyone comes together regardless of their political affiliations, religious affiliations or otherwise.  It is purely one American helping a fellow American.

Well, it feels a little weird to be announcing the lucky giveaway winner in the midst of such a terrible event.  But I did promise a winner today.  I had Eric help me by picking a random number to determine the winner.  He picked number 9, which belongs to Becky from Sew and So!  Congrats!  I will get your awesome new necklace sent out on Friday.
