**Thank you for all the loving thoughts. I have passed your comments onto my friend and her family. I do have some good news too. She does not have to have surgery, thank goodness. She is at home now and is using a walker to minimize the stress on the fracture. She will be out of work for at least two weeks. That is when she will have a follow up appointment to check her recovery progress and reassess her recovery plan.

Today I have another Penny approved dog cookie recipe that we made. I didn’t get pictures yet, but I will tomorrow and post the recipe then. These are a big hit too. I also want to make a video tomorrow of how she reacts to being offered a cookie. It is hysterical!

The sun started setting at a quarter till 5:00 tonight and as such I had incredibly poor lighting for my sad little point and shoot camera with a pitiful flash. That is why for Christmas I requested Best Buy gift cards. So that I can combine them and get a DSLR.

There are 2 things that I am wanting to get before we adopt and a DSLR is one of them. I want to capture every moment that will follow us finally becoming parents without having to worry about the quality that I cannot control with my point and shoot. Photos will be an important visual part of our story, not just for us and you wonderful reader, but more so for our future child. I want to make sure they have a great understanding of their history.

The second thing that I am wanting is a new car. Right now I have a two door 18 year old car that is not suited for small children. It is old and has it problems, like no A/C and doors that stick shut in the winter. It is fine for me now because I can handle those things, but definitely not a family car. I don’t know when this one is going to happen though. Maybe within the next year, we’ll see.

I love fall! I love the leaves changing colors. I love warm comfy sweaters. I love riding boots. And I love wearing jeans, just not these jeans. I picked these up a couple of weeks ago from Target. I love their new fit system by the way. When I tried these on they were a little big, but I figured they would shrink up after a wash or two.

Not so much! Look at all this bagginess. So not flattering.

Then there’s the back. More bagginess. All those wrinkles under my rear. Talk about mom jeans. Even the pocket placement is awful. It is a good thing my dress covered me from behind today.

If there was ever a time I wanted/needed to make my own jeans, it is now. I have a few different jeans patterns that I want to try. Now the search for good denim begins. I want something with a little stretch to it. Any suggestions?

First, here is today’s outfit. So far I am loving the new gray loafers I got last week. Nothing to exciting today. I am exhausted! Over the last two days I have only gotten 8 hours of sleep total, which is pretty standard for when we go to the ren faire. Yesterday, I promised a few pics from Saturdays adventure.

The whole reason we wanted to go this weekend was to see this band, Albannach. They create an exceptional atmosphere. No matter where you are on the 30 acre faire grounds, you can hear their thundering drums. They are definitely a crowd favorite that we hope to see return again next year.

This is the inspiration for Eric’s next costume. He has repeatedly told me this is what he wants and I continue to forget. We even bought a bundle of leather at a different shop to make this. I will post more on that when I get ready to start this project.

Close up shot of some of the details. I love the topstitching detail on this.

This lady had one of the better costumes I saw. There is a lot of hand beading, which of course, I have a fondness for. There were not a lot of intricate nobility costumes this weekend. I am going to have to remedy that for next year.

Just because I thought it made a good picture. I like it!

Eric got a new sword. He hasn’t gotten one in a few years now, so it was time. It’s pretty big.

I almost forgot to take a picture of us together. I really didn’t take many pictures this year. This is our 11th year going and I feel like I have taken pictures of pretty much everything there. So many so that I could probably cobble together a map of the fairgrounds through my pictures. That is actually a kind of interesting thought that I may try to do.

Tomorrow I will talk about my costume this year and review the patterns used.

We had a blast today! It was a long day, but really fun. I decided that I wanted to work my dress in as a sort of apron to my costume this year. This is what I have been working on for the past three days. I would say it turned out pretty well for only three days of work. I will be doing a full on it in the next couple of days. I can tell you that It was a totally different experience wearing this than a full nobility garb. I have a few more pictures that I will be posting tomorrow of some of the cool things we saw.

Gen Con is over and now I can return back to regular life and regular sewing for the next week. I have a few quick projects I want to whip out over the next couple of weeks. After that I need to get back to costume sewing! I have a ren faire costume and a Halloween costume to attend too.

It is August 10th already! Man, this month is flying by. I haven’t even posted my July review yet. At this point I probably will not, so let’s just say it wasn’t good! I bought way more then I used. August is looking much better so far. Hopefully once Gen Con has come and gone I will be able to slow down a bit and do start some fall sewing. I have a few pieces in mind that I have fabric and patterns for already so those will be first up on my list. Tomorrow I plan on hitting up Jo-Ann’s because McCall’s patterns are on sale for $.70!! I want to pick up some of their newest patterns including the Once Upon a Time inspired costumes as well as the adult Merida costume. For now it is back to hand pleating. I now remember why it has been 10 years since the last time I have done this. It is so time consuming, but in the end this costume is going to look amazing!
