Day 330: Interview Day

Musings of a Seamstress

Alright, so I was supposed to post this way way earlier today.  But work got in the way of that.  Plus I didn’t get my daily picture until after work, in what is very clearly poor lighting.  Awhile back I mentioned that I was participating in the Open Adoption Blogger Interview Project.  Well today is the day my group posts their interviews.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Jessalynn from Birthmothers for Adoption.  She blogs alongside her partner in crime Desha about open adoption and sharing their experiences.  Here is our interview.

Other than blogging, do you have any hobbies?

No. Just kidding. I cook, read, plan parties, write short stories and poems, wrestle two children and two dogs. I don’t know if it is a hobby but I am slightly, madly in love with TV. ha. I watch The Mindy Project, The Good Wife, Scandal, Grey’s  Anatomy, and Modern Family.

Who is your favorite celebrity style icon? Why?

Definitely Jennifer Lawrence. She is so awesome. I also love Charlize Theron. They are both just really classy and they are not afraid of wearing something kinda fun and flirty.

If your life were being turned into a movie, what would the title be?

The girl who did too much. I find myself getting into way too many activities, doing too many things, and committing to a lot. But I love it nonetheless.

What was your biggest fear with placing?

My biggest fear was that my birth daughter would hate me. She still might later on, but I like to think she will not.

How were you able to overcome that fear?

We have an open adoption. Because of this I am able to write her letters, talk to her, and Skype with her. This way she knows why I placed her, she knows who I am, and more importantly will know that I didn’t throw her to the wolves and happily walk away. She will know it was the hardest, most thought out decision of my life.

What is the most joyful moment you have had with your adoption story?

The most Joyful moment was probably the first time she called me birth mom. It signified that she knew who I was and where I belonged in her life. She knew that I loved her and cared for her. This picture is probably the moment that I love the most.

I hope you enjoyed reading this!  I know I sure have.  I look forward to next years interview project.
