Day 365: The End of Time, part 2

Musings of a Seamstress

So here it is,the very last day of my adoption dress project.  I can hardly believe how quickly this year has flown by.  You would think that this being the last day I would wear something crazy, unfortunately, that was not the case this morning.  I woke up an hour later than I normally do and was pretty late for work as a result.  So I had to rush a bit this morning to get ready.  I feel like today’s outfit is kind of a let down since it will be the last one.  So to counter balance that, here are my top 5 favorite looks from this year.

Day 95: April 5th

Musings of a Seamtress

My wedding dress!  This one is a sentimental favorite.  How many women can say they actually wore their wedding dress a second time?

Day 173: June 22nd

Musings of a Seamstress

I love love love this look.  This skirt is actually one of my favorite makes of the year.  I made so many versions of this skirt too.  This is a look that I want to turn into a single dress as opposed to the layers, for the upcoming year.

Day 285: October 12th

Musings of a Seamstress

This was a favorite because of how different it is.  Costuming wise, I have never worn anything remotely lower class to the ren fair.  I prefer the shiny fancy noble costumes, but this one was really fun.  It was so much easier to wear too.

Day 214: August 2nd

Musings of a Seamstress

While this was not the first time this year that I wore this dress, I think this is my favorite time.  I love the green contrasting with the pink belt.  Plus it is a super unique dress.

Day 25: January 25th

Musings of a Seamstress

For my last choice I picked one of my early on outfits.  I love this top paired with the red infinity scarf.  I also love the dress paired with it as more of a vest.  I just wish I had had my boots back in January to wear with this as well.  On my list of too makes for 2014 is a long vest that I can wear like this.

I want to take a moment to thank everyone of you for following along with this adventure.  I have had a lot of fun this year.  It has been challenging at times to come up with something different, but I managed to do it and I could not be happier that I did.  While we didn’t raise all the money that we need to join our agency, we are beyond grateful for the generosity of everyone who has donated this year.  Thank you!  Thank you! Thank you!  I look forward to what 2014 has in store for us and our journey through adoption.

Day 364: The End of Time, part 1

Musings of a Seamstress

Warning: super nerd girl moment coming. Last night I finished season 4 of Doctor Who, hence the title of this post. I am heartbroken over the ending of the 10th Doctor.  He is absolutely my favorite! Him and Rose together were amazing.  I have not watched anything with Matt Smith as the Doctor, but I have read enough from other fans to know that he was not a fan favorite.  I am going to give him a fair shake though.  But David Tennant was just so fantastic as the doctor.

Days 362 & 363: Almost The End

Day 362: 12/28/13

Day 363: 12/29/30

Musings of a Seamstress

Here are my looks for the past two days.  I cannot believe I have only two more days until the end of this project.  These last few days have just flown by!  In fact, this whole year has flown by.  I can hardly believe I have been wearing this dress for an entire year now.

Tomorrow I plan on sharing my top 5 makes and misses.  Then on New Years Eve, I plan on sharing my top 5 hits and misses for Adoption Dress outfits.  I wish I could share accurate sewing stats for the year, but I lost track a couple of months ago.  Next year I will be better about stats.  As for tonight, I will be cutting out patterns and watching Doctor Who.

Day 360 & 361: Making Plans

Day 360: 12/26/13

Musings of a Seamstress

I was incredibly tired yesterday.  Which is to be expected after cleaning our house top to bottom on Christmas to host our family Christmas party that evening.  Yesterday I wore my self made navy dolman sleeve top.  I have not worn this yet this year, nor did I ever blog about it last year.  I wish you could see the fabric better in this picture.  The weave has semi-sheer horizontal stripes in it.  Anger Management

The inspiration for this top came from one that I saw Selma Blair wear in an episode of Anger Management.  I searched high and low for a similar fabric and a workable pattern.  I found the fabric from Fabric Mart last year.  The pattern is a 1980’s pattern that I was gifted from a friend’s mother.  I would say originally that mine turned out pretty darn close other than color.  Then I washed it and it shrunk, because I didn’t pre-treat my fabric, so it was no longer as loose fitting as hers is.

Day 361: 12/27/13

Musings of a Seamstress

This is what I wore today.  Tonight I am sorta cleaning the sewing room after the Christmas tornado struck it.  I did manage to come up with a plan for the 2014 SWAP.  I will post about it once I choose fabrics for my pieces.  But for now my collection is being planned around what I can wear on my next girls trip to New Orleans in June.  It should be a blast and I will have a new wardrobe too!

Day 359: Merry Christmas

Musings of a Seamstress

Hope everyone had a wonderfully Merry Christmas!

Days 355-358: 12/21-12/24

I have been such a blogging slacker this week!  I am behind on posting by four days. FOUR DAYS!!!!  I am almost to the end of my project and all of a sudden I am struggling to post regularly.  At any rate here are the pics of my outfits from the last four days.

Day 354: Festive

Musings of a Seamstress

Let me explain what is happening here.  We had our work Christmas party today.  We decided on ugly sweater, but I never went to find one.  So, I was bedecked with tinsel by a co-worker.  I made a quick stuffed sequin bow for my Santa hat and, bam, Christmas spirit!

I work tomorrow and Monday, then I have the next 5 days off for Christmas!  I plan on getting a bit of sewing done in that time.  I still have not finished cutting out the pattern pieces for Eric’s newest garment. Hopefully, I can do that tomorrow.

Days 352 & 353: Christmas Cheer

Day 352: 12/18/13

Musings of a Seamstress

Yesterday was another long day.  Sorry for not posting.  Nothing exciting happened.

Day 353: 12/19/13

Musings of a Seamstress

As for this evening I am busy signing Christmas cards!  I have been putting it off for far too long.

Days 349, 350 ,351: Oh hey there

Day 349: 12/15/13

Musings of a Seamstress

I apologize for the long silence these last few days.  I have just plain been busy and tired.  Sunday we went to our friend Bri’s, annual Cookie Party. This year we all dressed up.  It was so much fun.  I wore my absolute favorite self made dress.  I used the wrap around ties on the dress to wrap around my adoption dress like a belt.  I really like this color combination too.

Day 350: 12/16/13

Musings of a Seamstress

Yesterday was an awful work day. It was long and I felt like I accomplished nothing!

Day 351:12/17/13

Musings of a Seamstress

Today I can’t say I accomplished much, but it was better. I am so looking forward to taking a break for the holidays!  I need a few days in a row off.

I am also looking forward to the start of the new year.  This dress project has been incredibly fun, but I am ready to take a break from so much blogging.  I have a few tutorials I want to share that I just have not felt like writing out.  I have already committed myself to posting more frequently than I ever have before and I don’t want overload anyone’s readers with my posts.  So I am saving them for next year.

Day 348: Christmas Cheer

Musings of a Seamstress

I actually got off of work today when it was still daylight outside!  And so ends the longest work week of my life.  Hopefully next week won’t be as bad.  I did a bit of Christmas shopping after work and it was fantastic.  I love Christmas and I love shopping.  Now I plan on spending the rest of the night wrapping so that there will finally be some gifts under our tree.
