  1. I love being in skyscrapers and looking down but I get panicky when I climb a ladder.
  2. I am a huge Harry Potter fan.
  3. I am a history and historical costumes addict. While I am terrible at exact dates this was always one of my favorite subjects throughout school and college.
  4. Being such a history and costuming dork I love going to events where I can dress up in costume.  The Ohio Renaissance Festival, Gen Con, Old West Festival, you name it and I will make a costume for it!
  5. I follow the What Kate Wore blog!  Why?  Well because when I was younger I was pretty darn sure I was going to marry William, what girl didn’t believe that,  and because Kate has amazing style.
  6. I have a recently developed nail polish addiction.  I have at least 20 different shades of colors/glitters/crackles/magnetic polishes that have been purchased within the last 6 months.
  7. I really want to grow a successful garden but have been thwarted 2 years in a row now.  Stupid crazy hot heat wave drought!
  8. I love shopping but I love sewing more!  As a result I do a lot of sneaky shopping where I go and try stuff on, take pictures of how it looks on me, then use those as the base for sewing my own wardrobe!
  9. I once shopped at a Standard Market and as a result I will never be the same.  Oh how I wish I could shop there every day!
    Isn’t it amazing?!?!
  10.  Eric and I love to read and because of this we each started a spreadsheet keeping track of all the books we have read, when they were read and how many pages read.  I have read over 36,000 pages within the last 15 years!
  11. My two favorite movies are Shakespeare in Love and William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet (1996).   I have seen each at least 50 times!.

Questions from Sofia

1. If you had a choice of any super power, what would you have?
Eric and I have had this discussion before, but I would go with time travel.
2. If you had the choice of time travel, what time of history or future would you go to and why?

This is a tough one for me since I love history.  I would love to go to several but I have to stick with my favorite and say the renaissance because of the clothing, Elizabeth I and of course Shakespeare.
3. What is your favorite book and why?

Confessions of a Shopaholic because it could have easily been based of my previous shopping habits.  Sophie Kinsella is actually one of my favorite authors because her heroines are all fun.
4. If you had the chance to meet someone famous, who would it be?

I am going to make an odd choice and say Sandy Powell.  She may not be a household name but I think she is famous!  She is the costume genius behind Shakespeare in Love, Gangs of New York, The Young Victoria, The Aviator and so many more!
5. What makes you happy?

Creating things!  I love to sew, craft, cook, quilt and knit.  As long as I can make something I will be happy.
6. What was/ is your favorite subject at school?

History.  Haha I wrote my 11 things before reading these questions.
7. How can you express yourself in 3 words?

New Martha Stewart
8. What part of the world would you want to travel?

Everywhere, but Italy is at the top of my list right now.
9. What is your favorite food?

Pasta!  I am a carb loving girl!
10. List something you like about yourself.

My open mindedness. I feel that being close minded teaches our children the same thing and leads to bullying.
11. What would you do if you were trapped in a room, knowing outside the door of the room was a group of people wanting to shoot at you, but there was a window to this room and if you were to jump out, you would fall 50 stories down. What decision would you make?

I would use one of my life lines and phone a friend to bring a big net cause I am going out that window!

We adopted

Please ignore the odd expression on my face.  It was hot and sunny.

Animals that is!  A few months ago I adopted 2 baby ducks.  I had really meant to post about it a while ago and never did.  The brown with yellow stripes is Coco and the yellow sitting next to her is Chanel.  The third duck in the box is blind and belongs to the lady I work for.  Coco and Chanel live out in the country with 4 other duck friends including the partially blind little girl.

Coco and Chanel hanging out in the pool.

Ducks grow pretty fast!  Look how big they are now!! Oddly enough they will not swim in the pond unless someone is out there with them.  Silly ducks!

All 6 ducks together.

The duck flapping his wings is Rascal and she is every bit of her name!  Shortly before this picture was taken there were 5 ducks in the pool till she chased them out!  She prefers to be Queen of the Pool.  All the ducks like to stick together, but they do socialize with hens and turkeys.

Melinda and second puppy.

Yesterday we also added a new member to our little family.  Her name is Penelope, or Penny for short.  Isn’t she precious?!  She has a pretty heartbreaking story for being so little.  This past Saturday, when it was over 100 degrees here in Indiana,  one of the ladies I work with was driving along a country road and found her and another little puppy just wondering about.  She being the animal lover that she is just could not let them stay there.  Since this was a country road she was surrounded by corn and soy bean fields, not a house anywhere near.  She brought  them home and took very good care of them over the weekend.  I am happy to report that the second puppy, which we believe is a German Shepard, went home with Melinda the same day.  We believe that Penny may be a purebred black lab.  I did a little internet searching and found a lab breeder not far from where Penny was found who had a litter of pups posted for sale that would be the right age range.

This is from earlier today.  She does a lot of napping right now with bursts of energy every couple of hours.  That is food next to her head, not poo, for those wondering.  We have a vet appointment later today to get her checked out and make sure everything is fine.

On a side note, our cats have mixed feelings on Penny.  Amadeus, our black cat, has done a lot of watching and sniffing.  Sebastian, our white cat, has done a lot of starring with some meowing and hissing.  He did the same things when we first brought Deus home too.
