So, I have been pretty lax with my posting. A month ago I posted about the house! Which is still an on going, soul sucking process!!! But I thought I would take a quick breather from that nightmare for a small update. I think I had mentioned that I was working on sewing up some felt food for my nephews birthday. It was a couple of weeks ago, but I have just gotten all the photos of my camera. I used Simplicity 2445 for this. I have to say I was quite surprised! It all came together very easily and very quickly! I made a few small adjustments. Instead of buying felt by the yard, I got the 9″x12″ felt squares. It worked out just the same. I also opted to not use the pipe cleaners it called for the apple and pumpkin as they are not very toddler friendly. I used brown felt for the apple stem and left off the pumpkin vines. All together I made 1 grocery bag, 6 eggs and egg carton, 1 squash, 1 eggplant, 1 pumpkin, 1 tomato, 2 carrots, 1 apple, 1 orange, 2 strawberries and 2 bananas. I have to say the eggplant is by far my favorite! I want to make another and put some googly eyes on it!
I have plans on making some other sets for him too. I want to do a sandwich set with bread, meats, cheese, lettuce, sliced tomatoes and condiments. I am also going to do a breakfast set with pancakes, bacon, fried eggs and sausage patties. I want to do spaghetti and meatballs. I am still trying to work out the spaghetti so that it doesn’t create a giant mess of loose felt strips.
Right now I am working on McCall’s 5800 in a blue paisley cotton for a friend. Mores pics of that and the pink zebra McCall’s 6073 to come.
