Monthly Archives: November 2009

Goals

It is mid November and I have not made much progress on my November goals. The only thing I have been doing is a lot of hand quilting. It is very tedious, but I still enjoy it. I just want to be done with it. I really want to have this done by July of 2010 and I have so very much left to do on it that all my other sewing projects are taking a back seat. Which is unfortunate, since I want to participate in the SWAP. I even have my SWAP planned out for the most part. The time frame for it though is 4 months that I won’t be able to work on the quilt. I think maybe the SWAP needs to be put on hold for awhile though. I may have to do it for myself afterwards.

In other news, Black Friday is almost here!! It could very possibly be my own personal holiday. It is definitely my favorite shopping day. I am currently fasting from shopping at Jo-Ann’s just so I can go on Black Friday and not get in trouble for my spending! Last year I got phenomenal deals. I spent $150 and saved $200. This year I plan on doing the same.

October Review

I did not do much of any sewing in October. How sad! There will definitely be more this month. But more on that later. This has been a crazy busy month at work. I have been working 60+ hour work weeks and haven’t had much time or energy to sew. Hopefully, work will be slowing down soon and I can get back into sewing. Which is just in time for the holidays.

This past month I only bought 9 yards of a dusty antique purple tulle. I did use all 9 yards of it for my Halloween costume. I went as a Victorian-esque vampire. Sadly, I do not have any pictures of it. I got the idea from Martha Stewart’s Halloween magazine issue. One of the costumes was a take on the Gray Lady. I used her how-to for the dress. I have searched her website high and low and have not been able to find a single picture of it. Trust me, it looked good and I got a lot of compliments on it!

Now that November is here it is time for me to start thinking about Christmas presents and Christmas sewing. My favorite shopping day falls in November. I think I must be crazy, but that day is Black Friday. I will be at Jo-Ann’s very early that morning spending that very hard earned money I made in October. Last year I got some killer deals on fabrics and I plan on doing the same this year. I have a lot of big goals for this month as well.

1. Get back to hand stitching the Double Ring quilt. I took quite a long break from it.
2. Eric’s dress shirt. I have the muslin cut.
3. My Chanel jacket. I have been a bad sew along contributor. I haven’t even cut my fabric yet.
4. Christmas projects. I am not telling what, but there will be a total of about 10-15 pieces I have to make for different people. I won’t be making all this month as I will be doing most of my shopping for these on Black Friday.
I don’t want to leave this post without a picture , so here is a parting shot of Sebastian.
