It’s been a while…eeks

Like the title says, it’s been a while since I’ve posted. It got crazy with Christmas and then I just forgot. I wish I had photos of the stuff I did for Christmas presents. I had made a couple of rice bags from scratch. I will have to make some more and post the photos of them. They each have removable/washable covers that button closed. I also made some fleece scarves and PJ pants.

But on to my more recent projects. I have been working on this blue dress. I just have to make a few alterations, put in the zipper and hem her up. I hate hate hate doing alterations, so it has been sitting in my sewing closet for 2 weeks now. I will get to it eventually.
I have also taken up 2 new crafting hobbies. My first is knitting. My friend Bri taught me how to knit and now I am working on knitted scarves for Christmas ’09 and to donate. I have decided that I am Knitting for the Needy. I will donate them to the Muncie Mission at the end of this summer. I will have to get some pics of the ones I’ve done so far. My first one is pretty tragic. There are dropped stitches all over the place. I don’t know if I will donate that one or not.
The second hobby is quilting. My friend Dem is getting married this summer and awhile ago we had talked about how we wanted a double wedding ring quilt. I thought about making her one and decided it seemed overwhelming. If you don’t know what one looks like I suggest Googling it. So I decided to buy her one and quickly fainted when I saw the price tags! So, my husband suggested that I revisit the idea of making one. I had only pieced together a very basic quilt top before. I decided to do that and enlisted the help of Bri. She very recently got her own sewing machine. I think that this will be fun for both of us to give her. We will see how quickly we can get it done and how well it will turn out as a first project.
