I thought I would give my jeans another shot today. They are still a disappointment. They fit great for about an hour, then they get so baggy that they just keep sliding down. I think one of my New Years reSEWlutions will be to finally sew my own jeans. I need to hunt some good 7oz denim with a bit of spandex stretch in them.
October turned out to be a pretty good sewing month for me considering how poorly I did in September. Unfortunately, this is the time of year when I start losing track of all my project stats on my sidebar. I have no idea what my correct yearly totals are at this point. I think maybe that should be another reSEWlution. But for this past month, I brought in 19 3/4 yards of fabric. Only 9 1/2 yards of that was purchased with no specific/urgent plan. I used a total of 39 yards of fabric. Woot for using more than I brought in!
I used 20 1/2 yards for my ren fair costume! It breaks down to 7 yards of hunter green crepe for my skirt and 7 yards of green quilting cotton for the skirt underlining, 3 1/2 yards (36″ wide) of white muslin for the chemise. Lastly, 1 yard muslin for underlining and 1 yard brown twill for lining of my bodice. The shell of the bodice was 3/4′s of a yard of stash 100% vintage wool from Pendleton. This was a special piece of fabric! It was from the 60′s and belonged to my best friends grandmother. I still have just over a yard of it left too.
I used 4 yards for Eric’s Lewis Carroll costume. That was all new fabric that I bought this month specifically for that project.
Lastly, I used 15 yards for the coat I am still finishing up. I used 2 yards muslin for a fitting garment. I used 6 yards of white flannel for an underlining and 2 1/2 yards of red satin charmeuse for the lining. The shell is 4 1/2 yards of an amazing plaid wool blend from my stash. I am almost done with it. I cannot wait to share this one. I am so in love with this coat.
