Sunday Lately: Week 63

Hey Sewcialists! Sadly, I skipped a couple of weeks, but I am back with lots to share for this weeks edition of Sunday Lately.  I also go some pictures taken of some of the garments I have made so far this year, so I should be able to post about them this week.   Work has finally slowed down!  FINALLY!  I now have Fridays off and that means more time for personal sewing, so expect even more finished garments this spring.

Sunday Lately

Creating

I have been working hard on my PR wardrobe collection.  I have 5 of the 10 pieces complete.  I have 2 others about halfway done.  I have one other that I started and am going to recut it and start over.  I have a little over 2 weeks left to finish the last 5 pieces and I am finding it hard to finish.  I recently got some new spring mint and coral jeggings from Torrid and all I want to make are tunics to wear with them.  I think I am going to call it on the wardrobe contest and move on to making the tunics.

Finding

I finished watching Downton Abbey this week and now I am in a show hole.  I think I need to go back to the beginning and watch it again.  To add to that I found Premier Yarns offers a Downton Abbey yarn collection. Yeah…I don’t need more yarn, but this is amazing.  The colors are gorgeous and fit so perfectly with the show.  My local Meijer currently has this collection on sale for $3.99 a skein.  This was really rough to walk away from.  Maybe next week, I will pick some up.  On a sidenote, I find it funny that they have color collections for Lady Mary, Lady Sybil, Matthew, and Branson only.  No Lady Edith!  Poor Edith, story of her life.

Switching

I am going to work on switching out my fall/winter wardrobe for my spring/summer wardrobe this week. With the weather finally warming up, I figured it is time to put away the sweaters and pull out the dresses.  Plus, being able to see what I have in my spring/summer wardrobe inspires me to make new pieces.  I made a lot of dresses last year and I am sure I will make several more this year, but I also want to try some new styles this year.

Forgetting

How about not forgetting?  I have been wanting to splurge and buy another Girl Charlee Knitfix, but I made a promise that I have to keep.  I told myself I would not buy another one until I used all six pieces from the first one I got.  I have two pieces left to use and one of those got cut last night.  I just have to sew it up today. Even still, when I do use all six, I probably should not get one.  I have so much fabric as it is and I really do need to use more than I bring in for the year.

Craving

Craving…all the foods!  Since Eric has had the flu this week he has been surviving on peanut butter toast and Gatorade.  I on the other hand have been making meals for one, which are not that exciting.  The amazing weather we have been having isn’t helping out either.  I want all the grilled food: a big cheeseburger, corn on the cob, and brats.  I am so ready for summer cookouts!

Sunday Lately Week 58

Sunday Lately

Hey Sewcialists! I recently joined the Blogger Tribe on Facebook.  They are a fun and welcoming group that I am honored to join.  Every Sunday morning there is a prompt to write about our week and just a general brain dump.  I really like this idea.  I think it will help me to get back into blogging regularly. Plus, it is an easy way to blog about all of those little things that I think about but do not have enough to make a full post out of.  Normally, this is supposed to be posted by 9am, but since I just joined the group I am posting it now.  The theme for this week is Creating, Finding, Switching, Forgetting, Craving.

Creating

I have not been creating much this week.  I started this week by getting projects cut out for the Pattern Review wardrobe contest. I had big plans on Friday while driving home from work to sew them up, but about 30 minutes after I got home I immediately got sick.    I had a feeling all week that I was on the verge of getting a terrible cold but I kept pushing because I had stuff to get done.  Then it finally hit me on Friday.  Today I am feeling a bit better and I am hoping to get some more of my wardrobe pieces cut out to sew next week.

Finding

I am working on finding more time!  I have a lot of hobbies  and not enough time for all of them.  This year I am working to find a better balance.  To do this I need to be better at scheduling my time to make sure I take full advantage of the time I have to do the things that are important.  One of my newest hobbies is photography and learning how to use my new Nikon DSLR camera.

Switching

I am switching gears from winter sewing to spring/summer sewing.  After getting the paper pattern pieces cut for my Cascade Duffle coat, I decided not to make it.  This winter has been pretty mild and I just cannot see needing it by the time I would get it done.  Instead I am switching to making my 10 piece wardrobe for the contest.

Forgetting

True  story, I forgot the date of Eric and I’s anniversary.  We were talking about what we were going to do and I could not for the life of me remember the date.  Yep, that is a thing that happened.

craving

After the last couple of months of working 60+ hour weeks, I am craving a vacation!  I have two fabulous trips to Canada planned for this summer.  One is a girls trip to Stratford to soak up some great theatre.  I haven’t been here in 15 years and I am looking forward to this a lot.  The second trip will be for Eric and I, and  we are going to Niagara Falls.  Neither of us have ever been before, so it should be a lot of fun.

That wraps up my week.  How did your week go?
