First, here is today’s outfit. So far I am loving the new gray loafers I got last week. Nothing to exciting today. I am exhausted! Over the last two days I have only gotten 8 hours of sleep total, which is pretty standard for when we go to the ren faire. Yesterday, I promised a few pics from Saturdays adventure.
The whole reason we wanted to go this weekend was to see this band, Albannach. They create an exceptional atmosphere. No matter where you are on the 30 acre faire grounds, you can hear their thundering drums. They are definitely a crowd favorite that we hope to see return again next year.
This is the inspiration for Eric’s next costume. He has repeatedly told me this is what he wants and I continue to forget. We even bought a bundle of leather at a different shop to make this. I will post more on that when I get ready to start this project.
Close up shot of some of the details. I love the topstitching detail on this.
This lady had one of the better costumes I saw. There is a lot of hand beading, which of course, I have a fondness for. There were not a lot of intricate nobility costumes this weekend. I am going to have to remedy that for next year.
Just because I thought it made a good picture. I like it!
Eric got a new sword. He hasn’t gotten one in a few years now, so it was time. It’s pretty big.
I almost forgot to take a picture of us together. I really didn’t take many pictures this year. This is our 11th year going and I feel like I have taken pictures of pretty much everything there. So many so that I could probably cobble together a map of the fairgrounds through my pictures. That is actually a kind of interesting thought that I may try to do.
Tomorrow I will talk about my costume this year and review the patterns used.
I think a lot of people chose to do lower class for highland weekend (or just kilts!) Can’t wait to see how Eric’s leather costume turns out for next year!
I agree! I loved it because it was so much easier to wear than the nobility garb.
