Day 274: Bye Bye Miss American Pie

Musings of a Seamtress

I have some strong political opinions that I can be very reluctant to share with strangers.  Politics can be a real hot button that I generally don’t want to push when talking to co-workers and acquaintances.  I reserve my political conversations/debates for close friends who I know it won’t become an all out war with.  That being said, this Government shutdown is too much!  This is an act of a bunch of self-righteous spoiled children, on both sides, who don’t want to play together on the same playground.  Indiana had a situation a few years ago where the Democrats left the state so that the Republican majority could not pass their ridiculously unfair agenda.  If you couldn’t guess by that, I am a Democrat.  However,  I abhor that those were the actions Democrats felt necessary.  These are the things that almost make me want to start a political career.  Then I remember that I seriously hate drama and don’t want to deal with that kind of drama in my daily life, like ever!  I think what frustrates me, and possibly many other Americans, is that Congress will still be receiving paychecks why thousands of other non-essential federal workers are not.  Aghh…aggravating!  Alright, I am stepping down from my soapbox now.

Can’t say I blame you–I always stay out of the political debates on Facebook and Twitter as a rule, mainly because there’s things about both sides I strongly disagree with. (I’m registered Independent, for the record.) I do find this whole situation rather irritating, though, especially knowing they’re still getting paid while members of my own family are either having to work without pay or stay home altogether! Both sides need to grow up and figure out a way to work together, IMO, or get out of the way to make room for people who will.
